Erving
Erving is certainly a model town, it being a matter of public record with the town authorities and the clerk of the courts for Franklin County that for 20 years no resident of Erving has been indicted nor placed in jail for crime, and that no crime deserving imprisonment has been committed there during that time by an inhabitant of the town. The only offense during that period was a case of theft 15 years ago, when a man from Wendell stole a barrel of flour from the depot, and was imprisoned for the crime.
